Global livestock standards anyone can actually find

The problem

ICAR is the global provider of independent guidelines, standards and certification for animal identification, performance-recording and evaluation in farm-animal production, with a membership network of about 130 organisations across roughly 60 countries.

Its content is inherently technical, scientific and regulatory: data-recording standards, certification requirements, animal identification and evaluation guidelines.

The audience is anything but uniform: researchers, breeders, regulators and member organisations, spread across different countries, languages and roles. Presenting that material so it stays precise for experts and reachable for everyone else, from a site that projects the authority of an international standards body, was the whole problem.

What we built

dev-UP designed and developed a responsive site organised around ICAR's core domains: guidelines and standards, certifications and devices, membership information, publications and resources, news and events, so visitors land directly in the section they came for.

Plain-language summaries sit in front of the detailed documents, which lowers the barrier for visitors unfamiliar with the jargon while keeping the full documentation intact for the experts who need it.

Navigation runs a clear path from the homepage to a domain to the actual document, data or membership detail, on a clean layout that carries the authority of an international standards body.

The structure was built to grow: more guidelines, new resources, multilingual support, member access and certification updates all have somewhere to go.
